August starts this week, where did July go? Time goes by very fast and at the same time slow with a newborn around.
Last week we did pretty well sticking with the meal plan. I diverted one night from breakfast for dinner and made grilled cheese with ham and tomato instead. It was hot and muggy and I wasn't in the mood to stand at the stove for the length of time needed to make breakfast for dinner. And two other nights we were invited over to a friend's house for dinner so there was no need to cook Friday or Sunday. And another friend brought a meal by so I did not have to cook on Wednesday either. That means I have more in my freezer to choose from when making dinners this week and less to buy at the grocery store.
On this week's menu:
macaroni and cheese
ham and cheese sandwiches
peanut butter and jelly sandwiches
*all are served with fresh fruit and/or vegetables
hot dogs and hamburgers ( a weekly summer staple)
tilapia (have not decided how to cook it yet)
sausages and peppers in the crockpot (from my stockpile in the freezer) with french bread from the bread machine
whole chicken in the crockpot
pasta with meatballs (the meatballs are from my freezer stockpile) with leftover french bread
loaded nachos (Jon's weekly request)
*all are served with vegetables or salad from our weekly CSA share
